Surrealist artists sought to shock, provoke, and delight.

Launched by manifesto in Paris in 1924, Surrealism quickly took the world by storm. It spread across all fields of artistic production and its influence was felt around the globe. This exhibition highlights the breadth and richness of Surrealist work, encompassing paintings, photography, sculpture, books, prints, design, and film. From the dream-like to the uncanny, visitors are invited to delve into a fantastical world and enter a new kind of reality.

The exhibition consists of 180 works, including a world-class collection of paintings, sculpture and drawings by Salvador Dalí. Other artists including René Magritte, Marcel Duchamp, Leonora Carrington, and Man Ray are represented through some of their greatest works. Spanning the decades from the 1910s to the 1960s, the exhibition brings together many of the most distinctive objects and images of the past 100 years.
