In 2015, contemporary New Zealand artist Max Gimblett made 7,000 brass quatrefoils to hang on the exterior of St David’s soldiers’ memorial church in Auckland. Each quatrefoil represented a New Zealander who served in World War I, and was intended as a public message of peace and hope.

Several hundred of these quatrefoils were displayed in the entrance of Ngā Toi | Arts Te Papa.
