In 2010, seven new waka houruawere created in Aotearoa to journey together on the voyage Te Mana o te Moana. This voyage aimed to reconnect Pacific peoples with their traditions, communities, and the ocean.

I whai kanohi ngā tini motu o Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa i tēnei haerenga o ngā waka moana o Whītī, o Rarotonga, o Hāmoa, o Poronīhia Wīwī me Aotearoa. Kotahi te waka, kotahi te rōpū whakatere o ia motu. Ko ētahi o ngā waka i ahu mai i ngā motu e pākia ana e ngā huringa o te āhuarangi pēnei i a Kiripati me ētahi anō motu hāhaka.
