Explore the world of make believe. Learn about how stories are told, and become inspired by fantasy worlds. In this StoryPlace programme children discover new ways to be creative and expressive through stories, songs, play and craft activities.
Ages: 12 months to 5 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Babies under 12 months free but require a ticket.
Visiting with older children? As you plan to enjoy StoryPlace with your preschooler, please arrange for any older children to explore the museum with another adult.
Monday – Friday, year-round (excluding public holidays)
Duration: 45 minutes
- 10.30am–11.15am (buy your tickets by 10.25am)
- 11.30am–12.15pm (buy your tickets by 11.25am)
- 1.30pm–2.15pm (buy your tickets by 1.25pm)
Our Host will meet you outside StoryPlace, Level 2. Please arrive promptly to avoid disappointment – unfortunately we can't accept late arrivals.
The following sessions have been fully booked by groups:
To secure your spot at a StoryPlace session, buy your tickets up to seven days in advance at the Information Desk on Level 2. It is not uncommon for sessions to sell out quickly, but if tickets are available on the day we ask that you purchase them at least 5 minutes before the session.
Baby under 12 months: Free, but requires a ticket
Sessions take a maximum of 25 people (pre-schoolers and adults).
You can make a group booking for an early childhood centre or play group.
You can either:
- join a public StoryPlace session at the usual cost, or
- book out an entire StoryPlace session.
Bookings must be for 10–25 people and be made at least seven days in advance.
- Up to 15 children: $45 (minimum charge)
- Extra child: $3 each
- Teachers and accompanying adults: Free
Prams and pushchairs
You can park your pram or pushchair in our free stroller park, just outside StoryPlace, for the duration of the session.
For health and safety reasons we are unable to accept prams, pushchairs, scooters, bikes, or tricycles in Coat and Bag.
Scooters, bikes, and tricycles
Scooters, bikes, and tricycles are not permitted inside the museum – they can be parked outside at our bike rack, using your own lock.
