Coat and Bag check

Museum visitors are welcome to leave coats, bags and other small items here between 9am – 6pm.

Where: Coat and Bag check is on your right as soon as you enter the main entrance.

Cost: There is no charge for our coat and bag storage service.

You can store almost anything you like with us including:

  • Bags
  • Coats, hats, and umbrellas
  • Food and drink items
  • Skateboards.

Unfortunately, we can’t store pushchairs and prams, scooters, or bikes. We do provide a free storage area outside Te Papa for scooters and bikes, and we loan out padlocks at Coat and Bag which you can use to lock up your scooter.

Parents’ rooms

Where: Te Papa Cafe by the children’s play area, Level 1, beside StoryPlace, Level 2, and beside Art Studio in Toi Art on Level 5.

Our parents’ rooms have nappy-changing facilities, breast-feeding chairs, and sinks. You can also find nappy-changing facilities in the women’s toilets by Te Marae, Level 4.

Looking for lost and found? Either head to our Information Desk on Level 2 or phone us on +64 (0)4 381 7000.

Free Wi-Fi

For free internet access throughout the museum, sign in to ‘Te Papa Free Wi-Fi’ using your device.

Discovery Centres

Te Papa’s two Discovery Centres are full of interactive games, computers, and books, and can accommodate large groups of accompanied children with special needs. Discovery Centres cannot be booked.
